TanzWerkstatt is a centre for creation and dissemination. It organizes Tanz im August - Internationales Tanzfest Berlin, the international Berlin dance festival, a veritable hub for dance in Europe. TanzWerkstatt Berlin is one of Germany’s foremost contemporary dance centres, a highly professional facility that works in close collaboration with numerous contemporary dance centres in Europe.

The choreographic residency in Berlin enables Québec artists to engage in a significant experience in their professional development. The new living environment and contacts with other artists create conditions favourable to the development of creativity and artistic approaches, indeed to the enhancement of the artist’s international profile.

The residency is intended to allow an up-and-coming Québec choreographer to engage in a period of research and artistic renewal outside his community and to take advantage of Berlin’s cultural diversity, especially during the Tanz im August - Internationales Tanzfest Berlin festival.
