With a view to continuing to develop durable ties with Latin American countries, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) concluded a three-year reciprocity agreement with the Colombian Ministry of Culture.

Following the example of Mexico, another South American country has joined the network of host centres for creative residencies intended for Québec artists and writers. Colombia is recognized for its history and varied heritage. It is the homeland of writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez and painter Fernando Botero and is noteworthy for the originality of its culture, shaped by an array of influences, which give the country a remarkable vitality centred on numerous artistic currents.

These residencies enable two Québec artists to live for two months in Bogota. In exchange, Colombian artists are welcomed to Montréal. Moreover, this exchange affords participants an outstanding opportunity to take advantage of numerous potential professional contacts that may foster the development of their careers.
