Artists' residences complex in Espoo
In 1997,
the Finnish Artists' Studio Foundation launched its program to welcome
foreign artists. Under an agreement with the Conseil des arts et des
lettres du Québec, it makes available each year to a Québec artist a
studio-apartment in a 10-unit architectural complex built in 1955 by
architect Aulis Blomstedt.

Artists
with at least two years of artistic practice.
Location
The
complex, located in the city of Espoo, roughly 10 km from the capital,
Helsinki, is in the middle of a park in the Tapiola district.
Québec
artists are housed in a fully-furnished wooden townhouse that includes a
63-m2 studio, 15-m2 mezzanine, kitchen and full bathroom. The adjustable
studio can be used to produce works of varying dimensions.
In
exchange, the Conseil hosts a Finnish artist for four months at La coopérative
Méduse in Québec City.
