Call for members of juries and advisory committees


The Conseil manages a bank of resource persons (BRP) made up of individuals who might be called upon to examine applications for financial assistance from professional artists and writers and Québec arts organizations. The Conseil is constantly seeking to broaden its bank of resource persons in all regions of Québec.

Applicants must be working in one of the fields under the Conseil’s jurisdiction: visual arts, theatre, dance, music, popular song, multidisciplinary arts, media arts (cinema, video, new media), circus arts, literature, arts and crafts, architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning.

Individuals who satisfy any of the following criteria may be admitted to the bank of resource persons:

  • the individual is an artist within the meaning of the Act respecting the professional status and conditions of engagement of performing, recording and film artists, i.e. someone who produces works on his own behalf and offers his services for remuneration as a creator or a performer in the fields covered by this Act;
  • the individual is an artist in the realm of the visual arts, the arts and crafts or literature, produces works on his own behalf, his works are exhibited, produced, published, presented in public or marketed by a promoter, within the meaning of the Act respecting the professional status of artists in the visual arts, arts and crafts and literature, and their contracts with promoters;
  • the individual has been recognized by his peers as a professional artist by way of an honourable mention, an award, a prize, a scholarship, an appointment to an adjudication committee or an invitation to participate in a salon or by any other similar means;
  • the individual is a manager or a professional in one of the fields under the Conseil’s jurisdiction.


Moreover,

  • the artist, creator or writer must have at least five years of practice and the cultural manager or the professional at least five years of professional experience;
  • these individuals are recognized for their competence in one or more artistic disciplines but will be registered in the BRP in no more than two disciplines.


Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Conseil may include in the BRP specialists from fields other than those under its jurisdiction.

The following individuals are ineligible for inclusion in the bank of resource persons:

  • members of the Conseil’s staff and Board of Directors;
  • members of the public service;
  • staff working in other government agencies, public or private organizations that support the arts;
  • artists’ agents or representatives;
  • journalists;
  • individuals who work as critics on a regular basis.


Individuals who wish to be included in the Conseil's bank of resource persons are asked to consult the Code of ethics and professional conduct governing jury and committee members and assessors and the Policy governing juries, committees and assessors

Applicants must fill the Jury and Peer Advisory Committee Application Form (see below) and submit their curriculum vitae to the Conseil at: banque @ calq.gouv.qc.ca
