CALQ is supporting Manif d'art for the "Tactful Rituals" exhibition at the prestigious Liverpool Biennial
Montréal, September 17, 2010 – The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) has awarded a $60 000 (£37 404) grant to the Manifestation internationale
d'art de Québec to present the "Tactful Rituals" exhibition at the City States section of the Liverpool Biennial.
In conjunction with this major event devoted to contemporary art to be held in England from September 18 to November 28, 2010, Manif
d'art is presenting multidisciplinary productions by the following Québec artists: Annie Baillargeon, Claude Gagnon, Massimo Guerrera, Adad Hannah, Manon Labrecque, Catherine Sylvain, Julie Andrée T. and the duo Carl Bouchard and Martin Dufrasne.
"CALQ's support for this activity reflects its desire to enhance the profile of Québec contemporary art on the international scene and develop new audiences. The varied, original works of the guest artists convey Québec's identity at home and
abroad," noted CALQ CEO Yvan Gauthier.
Aside from its support for Manif d'art in respect of the "Tactful
Rituals" exhibition at the Liverpool Biennial, CALQ is also offering this Québec City arts organization, which has overseen for 10 years La Manif
d'art - la biennale de Québec, a $90 000 (£56 108) operating grant.
CALQ supports throughout Québec creation, experimentation and production in the realms of the performing arts, the multidisciplinary arts, the visual arts, the media arts, architectural research, the arts and crafts, and literature and is broadening their influence in Québec, Canada and abroad. It also offers grants for up-and-coming artists and writers and supports advanced training for professional artists.
