Resources for person with a disability

Committed to promoting inclusion and equity, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) fosters the full participation of Deaf artists and artists with disabilities in Québec’s artistic community and ensures equitable access to its services.

To fulfil this commitment, CALQ offers programs and measures tailored to their needs. This page brings together the main programs, funding opportunities and resources available to help artists and organizations identify the support available to them.

Support for artists

Application assistance

This assistance is intended to support artists in preparing and writing their applications.

It helps cover all or part of the expenses incurred for services that facilitate the submission of a grant application or nomination by a person with a disability.

Additional assistance for project completion

This assistance is intended to support the completion of individual artistic projects while considering the specific needs associated with a disability.

Provided in addition to a grant awarded by CALQ, this assistance helps cover a portion of the additional expenses incurred by the artist or a collaborator as part of the project (support services, interpretation, transcription, rental of adapted equipment, etc.).

Support for organizations

CALQ provides support to arts organizations that work with artists and collaborators with disabilities to better meet their needs.

When applying for funding, organizations may include certain eligible costs in their budget, including: :

specialized services ;
support services ;
adapted transportation ;
specialized equipment or resources.

For example, these costs may include fees for a sign language interpreter or adapted transportation expenses.

These expenses must be included in the eligible expenses section of the budget submitted with the application and must be justified according to the needs of the project.

CALQ can provide guidance in identifying these expenses and preparing the application.

This measure is available under all programs for organizations.
