Prix et reconnaissances

On May 29, 2023, Michèle Lapointe received the insignia of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec, a prestigious distinction bestowed to personalities whose exemplary achievements contribute to the artistic and literary development of Quebec. Discover the tribute paid to her by the Council.

A prominent figure in contemporary art glass, sculptor Michèle Lapointe has distinguished herself for the originality, complexity, and flawless execution of fascinating pieces that convey her love of nature and commitment to protect it. A self-taught visionary, she integrates found objects and a range of materials to glass to construct tales in material form that evoke timeless, haunting atmospheres where the transformation and fragility of the medium echo those of childhood.

Combining the effects of transparency and optical illusions, her works, from which memories, dreams, and nightmares emerge and blend, are at once intimate and spectacular. Reflections of and on human nature, her sculptures leave it to our eyes to explore their many narratives.

Alongside her creative work recognized by the Prix Jean-Marie-Gauvreau, the highest honour in arts and crafts, this artist is also an exceptional teacher who contributes to the development of her community. For 30 years at the heart of the Espace VERRE team, she has shared her passion, expertise, and knowledge, participating in the development of the next generation of artists.
