Writer, performer and visual arts curator, Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui is also a historian and an anthropologist. Based in Wendake, he is a member of the Wolf clan. He uses his novels, poetry collections, short stories, plays and literary shows to affirm both his individuality and his contemporary view of Indigenous realities.

Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui continues his invaluable work of cultural revitalization and transmission, promoting the language, stories and values of his ancestors on multiple fronts. In 2015, he cofounded the organization Kwahiatonhk! to promote Indigenous literature and took the helm of the Salon du livre des Premières Nations, giving readers a chance to discover unique voices that have had limited exposure. He is a prolific writer who keeps the mythology and spirituality of the Wendat people alive, attesting to his need to express a truth greater than his own.

The Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec is a distinction of the Council which aims to honor people who have made a remarkable contribution, through their commitment and dedication, to the development, promotion or influence of the arts and letters of Quebec.

The CALQ would like to thank its partners, the Caisse de la Culture and the newspaper Le Devoir.
