D. Kimm - Compagne des arts et des lettres du Québec
On June 9, 2025, D. Kimm received the insignia of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec, a prestigious distinction bestowed to personalities whose exemplary achievements reflect the artistic and literary development of Quebec. Discover the tribute paid to her by the CALQ.
Poet, performer, producer and director, D. Kimm is an interdisciplinary artist based in Montréal. Founder and artistic director of the company Les Filles électriques and the Festival Phénomena, she has also been at the helm of the Festival international de la littérature and the Festival Voix d’Amériques, demonstrating her unifying vision, sense of innovation and openness to difference.
D. Kimm has a keen feel for events, an allergy to newspeak and an aversion to the consensual. Her fertile imagination sows magic with extravagant and bold productions, recognizable through their exploded-view, baroque visual signature, expressing her appetite for risk. She is tirelessly committed to the performing arts community and is known for her determination to cross disciplinary boundaries by fostering exchanges that include all artists and communities.
Avant-garde, resourceful and passionate, D. Kimm isn’t trying to stray from the beaten track: she never even set foot on it.
