Actor, teacher, remedial educator and psychosocial professional born in Haiti, Mireille Métellus has been gracing Québec stages for over 40 years. She has thrown herself headlong into theatre, television, film and dance, unleashing her talent from stage to screen, to public readings in the form of web series. Her brilliant and sensitive portrayal of some 100 characters has shed light on human experiences that often remain out of view, prompting us to take a new look at society. The depth of her acting and her charisma have earned her a new audience, which sees themselves reflected in her and understands the complexity of her characters, making her one of the most recognized and appreciated artists of African descent in Québec.

A woman of heart, action and words, Mireille Métellus’s commitment to the arts and the community is inexhaustible. Between roles, she helps strengthen the cultural identity of youth as a youth coordinator at the Maison d’Haïti de Montréal. From festivals to book fairs, she is a conduit for the ideas and dreams of many authors, making her a magnificent, powerful megaphone.

The Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec is a distinction of the Council which aims to honor people who have made a remarkable contribution, through their commitment and dedication, to the development, promotion or influence of the arts and letters of Quebec.

The CALQ would like to thank its partners, the Caisse de la Culture and the newspaper Le Devoir.
